Over the past 20 years, our team has implemented highly successful solutions in a wide range of industries. Our name is synonymous with professionalism and trust among our customers. With each challenge, with each new project, our team gains and shares experience and “best practices”. Our ambition is to become better and better and to make you, our customer, even more successful. Our portfolio ranges from traditional data warehouse and business intelligence approaches to Big Data, IoT, Data Lake and Self-Service BI solutions, as well as cloud data platforms and artificial intelligence methods.

We support you in concept development, implementation and day-to-day business. The formats requested by customers include architecture design sessions, proof of concepts, reviews, piloting, concept development for processes, data security, governance and data protection. Everything that is created in this context must be measured against reality and prove its practicality. Of course, we also carry out partial or full implementations, hand-over trainings and training courses. Subsequently, we also assist our customers in the continuous operation of the system or, if desired, take over the complete operation.

We take responsibility, are advisors, guides and designers for you. With degrees and doctorates in (business) informatics, business administration and economics, mathematics, meteorology, biology and physics, our team is interdisciplinary.

Our customers appreciate the combination of business and mathematical competence with deep technological knowledge and know-how. We also spend a lot of time on further training and the evaluation of new technologies and concepts. This enables us to present and explain even complex interrelationships in a comprehensible manner and to implement them with a great portion of vision and passion.

Our customers include well-known companies and organizations from the utility, retail, media, chemical, public administration, logistics and insurance industries.

We focus entirely on the requirements and wishes of our clients. Especially in large companies, the formal framework conditions are often challenging. There, we are therefore particularly appreciated for our agility and pragmatism. At the same time, we have the necessary experience and assertiveness to survive in this environment.

Dr. Stefan Anschütz and André Paul Henkel founded initions in 2001 as a spin-off of the Institute for Business Informatics at the University of Hamburg. They started with the vision of making mathematical optimization and artificial intelligence commercially viable. A goal that initions has since been able to put into practice with great success for many customers. As experts for data analytics and intelligent cloud solutions, we now accompany and shape the digital transformation of our customers.

Since 2021, we have been bundling our competencies in route planning and telematics in our subsidiary Opheo Solutions.

Research and development play a central role in the corporate strategy of initions. We continuously invest in the further development of our employees’ know-how and create spaces for the exchange of experience and pioneering work via Future Fridays and hackathons.

Since its foundation, initions has been characterized by permanent and healthy growth, which we have always financed from our own surpluses. At the same time, we have always remained true to Hamburg as our “home port”. From our office in the Alster City, we currently serve customers in the entire DACH region with a team of more than 60 employees.

Intelligent solutions are in our DNA: When initions was founded, André Henkel already had the vision of making scientific methods of mathematical optimization and artificial intelligence applicable for daily use in business practice. And to this day, it is our claim to find solutions for problems that others cannot solve or do not even dare to approach.

In doing so, we always proceed in a fact-oriented and highly ambitious manner, while never losing sight of the bigger picture - neither towards our customers, nor towards our employees.

Decency

The term may sound a bit outdated, but for us, the hanseatic handshake and the given word still count. Honesty, fairness and reliability are written in capital letters for us. But for us, decency also means dealing sustainably and responsibly with our environment and our fellow human beings.

Decency is also a predicate that we fill with life every day in the cooperation with our strategic partners (such as Microsoft, Snowflake or also Databricks). Developing the best solutions for our customers and at the same time educating our employees on the latest developments at an early stage requires a close and trusting cooperation that is characterized by transparency, openness and trust.

Success Orientation

Our common drive at initions is to be successful together. Second place is not enough for us: We want to offer our customers the best product and the best solutions. However, our motto is not "success at any price". Rather, we strive for sustainable growth in cooperation with all our employees and our customers. This is also reflected in our error culture. We have the highest standards when it comes to finding solutions for our customers. This requires a far above average competence of our consultants. Nevertheless, mistakes can happen during the development of new and highly sophisticated architectures. However, we always prefer to try new and challenging ways than to exclusively follow known paths. Only in this way can we create common competitive advantages for our customers.

For us, success orientation also means critically questioning decision paths. In other words: sometimes a "No" or "Not so" can be the economically more sensible decision for the customer. And if we are convinced of this, then that is exactly what we recommend to our customers.

Spirit

Anyone who comes to initions as a visitor or as a new employee immediately senses the positive and relaxed atmosphere. It is not easy to describe what makes up this special initions spirit. It is the right mixture of fun at work and professionalism, as well as the great willingness to help each other. The respectful and friendly interaction at eye level also contributes a lot to the special working atmosphere at initions. We are sure that our clients will notice the difference in their solutions: when we take on the challenges together and build solutions in close cooperation - both internally at initions and together with our clients - we create sustainable results. The customer notices if he has a team at his side that sees itself as such and acts as such. This is a differentiator compared to competitors in the market.

And initions feels responsible for creating exactly this framework for teamwork, loyalty and fun at work to emerge and flourish.

Future Friday

In order to always be able to offer exceptional quality that guarantees our customers added value, we must permanently invest in our most valuable asset: our employees. This is why initions still has the so-called “Consultant Friday”, which is a Future Friday at our company.

This weekly exclusive framework creates the opportunity for a continuous exchange of experiences, where best practices and lessons learned are at the top of the agenda. In regular hackathons, selected customer challenges are subjected to different approaches to solutions and the latest technological developments are put through their paces on Future Friday. We don’t blindly chase a new trend or default to the next latest release – every customer situation is individual and must be evaluated as such. And if new technological concepts or tools offer a match to the project requirements in the course of a softlab test, then together we create the solution for our customer.

In addition, our employees – regardless of whether they are experienced senior consultants or young graduates – use Future Friday for further training. Both internal activities and external training, qualification programs and certifications come into play. Because one thing is self-evident for us: in order for our customers to receive top advice, our consultants must be highly trained.
